As the only Certified
Gracie Jiu Jitsu Training Center in North Dakota, ATA Martial Arts is fully
committed to the preservation of pure Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was modified from the traditional Japanese style by
Grandmaster Helio Gracie with the objective of developing a system that would
enable a person with a small physique to defend himself against much larger
opponent. The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) was created by Helio’s oldest
son, Rorion Gracie specifically to show that no other discipline is as effective
for real street defense.
Although Gracie or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is highly effective, it is a relatively young martial art. It is common practice, at BJJ
schools around the world, for techniques to be presented in complete randomness.
That kind of an unorganized learning environment can be extremely frustrating
and overwhelming.
The Gracie Solution
The Gracie Academy dedicated several years to organizing all of the
techniques in the most logical sequence based on their complexity and usefulness
in combat. As a result, Gracie Combatives (for teens, adult and the U.S. Army), Gracie Master Cycle (for advanced students) and the Gracie Bullyproof program (for kids) were developed and became one of the most
popular and proficient methods of self-defense in the world.
What also makes the Gracie Training Center programs unique is the way in
which the techniques are presented. Perfected over three generations, the
teaching methodology used at all Certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Training Centers
allows students to learn at their own pace. Furthermore, unlike many MMA
schools, we conduct all group classes with the utmost concern for safety, and
demand that all students treat each other with complete respect.
Gracie Training Centers don’t teach people how to fight. They give students
complete self-defense confidence so they don’t have to fight.
